2001 - 2002 YZF R6
Here
are the instructions for removing the 2001 R6 taillight assembly.
NOTE: Before removing tail /
brake light assembly, ensure that it works properly.
1. Take both seats off.
2. Remove 'push-pins' from
underside of fairing. The best way to remove these is to PUSH the
center pin IN with the tip of a pen or phillips head
screwdriver. It will "pop" and the whole rivet
is easily removed.
To re-install the rivet, pull the pin out to "reset"
the rivet, insert it into the bodywork and then PUSH the
center pin IN until it clicks and locks into place (Thanks
lunadivolo) or use pointed scribe or similar and jam between
inside pin and outside ring, then pry pin out. The
pin will come out about 1/4", and you can keep it in
its holder.
3. Remove 2 large phillips screw on
front point of fairing, close to fuel tank. Remove
2 small phillips screws in back of fairing on top, where
the back of the passenger seat area is.
4. Remove rear fairing, pulling back
works well.
5. Remove four allen head screws from
inside storage area. These hold the rear fender /
license plate frame / turn signal mount assembly. Be
careful when removing last screw to hold the under-fairing
from falling.
6. Remove brake light assembly with 2
phillips screws, one on each side.
7. Send entire brake light assembly,
with un-cut wiring harness to:
M. D. Wright, Inc.
4701
East 870th Road
Casey,
IL 62420
800-980-3517
NOTE: A $10 charge will be added for
a CUT OR MODIFIED
wiring harness. Also, if you have already purchased the
Integrator, and any wires have been cut or spliced, or if
it is not complete, there will be at least a 20%
restocking fee.
8.
When you receive the "Integrated" brake light
assembly back, simply
install in reverse order.
Once we have the tail light, it should ship out within two
business days. The
Integrator Kit is $49.95 and the instalation is $60
which includes a stainless steel license plate bracket. Return shipping
and handling is $12.50 (Ground), $17.50 (Second Day), or $32.50 (Overnight).
We
also have an Exchange
Program. With it, we send you a new brake light
assembly, that has been 'Integrated'. Then, you simply
swap brake lights, and send us your original one. There
is a $25 fee for the Exchange Program, but it saves you a lot of
time. Note:
Your brake must be in PERFECT condition to be eligible
for the Exchange
Program. When we send you the 'Integrated' brake
light, we will charge your card for $275. Then when we
recieve your brake light, we credit you the difference -
$140.05 ($190 if you have already purchased the
Integrator), minus shipping.
